The Xwatch XW5 provides overload (RCI), height, slew/swing limitation and is controlled using proportional soft-stop hydraulic valves providing accurate and repeatable performance without detriment to the ma-chine.

Motion control is also used to control the machines movement via drive to the tracks, swing/offset boom, and blade down movement (if fitted to the machine) when connected to the Leica MC1 machine control.

The Leica MC1 machine control software and the 3D Avoidance Zone System will allow users to create or import 3D avoidance zones above and below the surface area directly within the Leica MC1 machine control software. The solution minimises downtime, reduces unforeseen costs, and provides a safer environment for machine operators and nearby workers.

Height Control

Operation is fail safe and fully automatic with function selection never more that two key presses away.

All potential machine high points are monitored and appropriate motions controlled. Full power is always available to move away from a limit.

Motions are controlled with ramped slow down
on approach and soft-stop. There is no machine ‘bounce’, overshoot, or undershoot. An optional chassis sensor can be installed to correct for terrain slope.

Slew Control

Single/dual parallel wall or angular limitation are available. When walls are in use, the front end equipment is also monitored and controlled for limit breach.

Limits can be either manually keyed in or set by positioning the machine. If both limits are active, the system will automatically flip to the appropriate display should a hazard approach occur. Set up is simple, quick, and can be protected with an optional access key switch. All settings are retained and will be active on start-up.

Rated Capacity Indicator (RCI)

RCl is a rated capacity indicator that ensures the safe operation of lifting equipment throughout the machine's working envelope. The system continually measures the height, radius and load on the machine, allowing operators to work at the maximum lifting capacity whilst remaining within the machine's safe working load (SWL)

3D Avoidance Zones

When approaching an avoidance zone, the system will take control of the machine’s height, depth and slew movements triggering the hydraulic functions of the excavator to stop once approaching these zones.The hydraulic control is proportional, meaning the machine’s movement will slow down before completely stopping when approaching an avoidance zone. The motion of the excavator’s tracks can also be disabled so it cannot breach environmental areas or designated no-go zones, even avoid overhead power cables or gantries. Once the solution has stopped the machine, the Leica MC1 software will trigger a visual warning that needs to be acknowledged before continuing any other operation.
