Murphy, a leader in civil engineering, has recently upgraded its equipment fleet with twelve new Kubota excavators, from Shellplant, a Northamptonshire based construction plant and equipment dealership.
The upgrade includes six Kubota KX085-5 and six Kubota Mini-Excavators U50-5, all of which are equipped with the latest Xwatch XW5 safety systems, which offers a total safe working envelope around the machine and operator, enabling the control of the machine's height, slew, and rated capacity indication.
Gareth James, GJ Plant & Vehicle Solutions expertly installed the Xwatch XW5 systems, a key component of Murphy's equipment upgrade. These advanced safety controls restrict machine operation within predefined limits, making them ideal for urban and restricted space constructions. This collaborative effort is crucial for minimising risk on site, particularly in complex environments where traditional machinery operation poses significant hazards.
As part of its commitment to maintaining a modern and safe fleet, Murphy purchased these machines from Shellplant, an established Kubota distributor. This partnership ensures that Murphy's fleet is equipped with the latest technology and adheres to stringent safety standards. Integrating these high-tech systems vastly improves safety and ensures that Murphy's projects are completed more efficiently and with reduced risk to workers.
Julian Payne, Director of Shellplant, highly praised Jemma's contributions in supplying the Xwatch systems. He remarked, 'Nothing is too much trouble for Jemma. If Carlsberg made sales and operations managers, Jemma would undoubtedly be the mould. The Xwatch systems, as specified by our customer, have proven to be highly reliable and hassle-free. The installation team is also excellent and as dependable, as they are trustworthy. However, the true jewel in Xwatch’s crown is Jemma! She is a pleasure to collaborate with and an invaluable asset. Every team needs someone like Jemma—she represents the dependability and essence of Xwatch and they are very fortunate to have her onboard."
“The Xwatch XW5 is the top choice for safety systems," says Jemma Dycer Hopkins, Sales and Operations Manager for Xwatch. "It's designed to offer first-class safety features that set it apart from others in the market. We are extremely pleased that key players like Shellplant and Murphy are endorsing the Xwatch brand. Their decision reflects a shared commitment to elevating safety standards and showcases their trust in our systems to safeguard their operations and workforce.”
Tier one contractors, like Murphy, are vital in setting industry benchmarks for safety. Their rigorous safety protocols and the integration of advanced technology are central to their operational strategy. Adopting systems such as the Xwatch XW5 is a significant investment in meeting and exceeding health and safety regulations - protecting their workforce and the general public.
Jemma added, “Xwatch is the market leader in height, slew, and Rated Capacity Indicator (RCI) safety systems. Our systems are widely recognised for their reliability and precision, making them indispensable in today's construction industry.”
